失乐园的一段

大天使米歇尔对亚当说：

.."Only add
Deeds to thy knowledge answerable; add faith;
Add virtue, patience, temperance; add love,
By name to come called Charity, the soul
Of all the rest: then wilt thou not be loth
To leave his Paradise, but shall possess
A Paradise within thee, happier far."

看新教伦理与资本主义精神里面引的这一段，还是相当感动的。

"Some natural tears they dropped, but wiped them soon:
The world was all before them, there to choose
Their place of rest, and Providence their guide."
